Company Information
The Miguel and Seron families are totally devoted to using all this ancient knowledgein their company Aceites del Bajo Martin S.L.
Their main goal is to produce top quality empeltre olive oil, producing Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Virgin Oil.
This oil has a fluid texture, with a smooth fruity aroma and a mild sweet nutty flavour. It is hardly ever bitter or sour.
These are rich mouthfeel very sweet smooth oils.
The area where the Empeltre kind of olives is grown
streches from the provinces of Logro±o and Teruel,
along the river Ebro Valley, to the province of Tarragona
and the Balear Islands. This growing is the 85% of
the cultivable land in the Bajo Aragon regions of Teruel,
and it is also extended all over the lands of Alca±iz, Calaceite,
Valderroble, Castellote, Albalate del Arzobispo
and the Serrania de Montalban, all of them located between
Aragon and Catalonia.
These are one of the oldest olive trees in Europe. They
can reach a large size, although their rooting ability is
low, which makes grafting the only possible propagation
method. In fact, the name of this kind of olive comes
from the Catalan word â??empeltâ?? which means graft,
as this variety was grafted onto other older ones. Their
leaves are dark green and very bright; their olives are
jet-black. Olives have an oil content around the 18, 3%.
They have an early maturity season, from the first week
of November to the first week of December.
