Company Information
EMU was Established in Umbria in 1951, by the 1960s it had already realized its natural talent inmanufacturing outdoor furnishings, making the best use of technology and its cultural heritage,
know-how and skills in working metal.
In the 1980-90s it became the leader in the garden furniture sector, with the production of one of
its greatest successes, the Rio chair, which has sold 8, 000, 000 pieces since its introduction.
Over the past year Emu has evolved its brand developing innovative products in collaboration with
some of the most successful international designers creating innovative products but at the same
time focusing in its core business: outdoor classics and Contract products.
2011 marks the achievement of a milestone like 60 years of activity. Not following the recent trends
of delocalization of the production plant, Emu’s metal furniture is still produced at the Marsciano
factory: axtending over 70, 000 sq. m. and employing over 150 workers. The quality of the furniture
is guaranteed by its “made in Italy†production and its commitment to technological research,
focused on ongoing study of materials and production techniques. This commitment is determined to
continuously and steadily improve its know-how in the sector of metal processing where Emu can
claim merit and high esteem throughout the world.
A production excellence growing thanks to the new design collections, signed by the most important
international designers, such as Arik Levy, Carlo Colombo, Paola Navone, Patricia Urquiola, Jean-Marie
Massaud, Cristophe Pillet, whose products have been choosen by the finest projects and locations all
around the world. This experience continues with Jean Nouvell’s new design collection which will be
presented at Salone del Mobile 2012 in Milan.
Both the Classic and the Advanced lines, give to our customers a wide range of chairs, tables, sun
beds, relaxing facilities, lounges and accessories to chose from, available in various materials, from
metals to aluminum, from wicker to Teak. Very important also is the 15-years old collaboration with
Chiaramonte & Marin studio, which has developed products and accessories such the new SoftWare
textile collection: fabrics charachterized by a strong personality that will “dress up†the products,
high quality materials available in many fashionable colors and patterns.
The projects and prestigious venues hosting EMU products testify the current trend of expansion of
the Company that became in the recent years the largest outdoor furniture manufacturer in Europe.
