MDI was founded in 1963 as a joint venture Singaporean partners and Australian Dairy Produce Board. In 1969, the Singaporean partners purchased the Australian equity, resulting in the total localization of MDI.

MDI was the first company in Singapore to produce sweetened condensed milk and it was also one of the first products MDI manufactured. 1970, MDI started the manufacture of evaporated milk, and again become the first company in Singapore to do so. The company began to expand its manufacturing line to pasteurized products in 1974.

�

Today, MDI is the leading dairy and beverage company, with annual sales revenue of more than $250 million in Singapore and RM400 million in Malaysia.

Principal Activities

�

MDI and its subsidiaries manufacture, distribute and market a wide range of food products such as sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, UHT milk, juices and Asian drinks, pasteurized milk, juices, cultured milk, soft yogurt, yogurt drink, jelly and pudding.

�

The company has manufacturing facilities in Singapore and Malaysia. In Singapore, MDI manufactures the abovementioned beverage and dairy range, except UHT products which are manufactured by its wholly owned subsidiary in Malaysia.�

�

In addition to the domestic market, MDI exports 90% of its manufactured output of sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk to over 50 countries in the world.

Future Developments�

MDI will continue to innovate and proactively respond to changing consumer needs and intends to forge ahead with its market leading position, staying a step ahead of the competition. The company intends to develop new products categories and expand into new geographical markets, as avenues of growth. The future may also see MDI increasing its physical presence in key export markets where its products have achieved substantial market share.

In MDIs continual efforts to build MARIGOLD into a mega brand, all advertisement highlights the slogan, For Health, For Life. This reflects the Companys commitment to provide consumer with healthy products to enhance their quality of life.

Achievements

The companys success has been remarkable. Within 50 years, MDI has grown from a

first locally-owned milk product manufacturer to become the largest dairy producer in Singapore.�

Over the years, MDI has successfully built the MARIGOLD and VITAGEN brand names, which have become todays well-known household names. Many consumers have acknowledged MARIGOLD and VITAGEN to be valued and trusted household brands.

MDI is the first and only local manufacturer of cultured milk drink, which is marketed under the VITAGEN brand. Today, MDIs MARIGOLD products have achieved the no.1 leading status, namely in:�

(a) No.1 Condensed and Evaporated Milk, with 50% of market share;�

(b) No.1 Pasteurized Low Fat Milk, with more than�40% of market share;�

(c) No.1 Pasteurized Juice, with close to 40% of market share;�

(d) No.1 Pasteurized Yogurt, with close to 30% of market share and�

(e) No.1 UHT 100% Juice with more than 30% market share.

As MDI manufactures perishable consumer products, quality control is foremost in our minds. The company is proud to be ISO 22000: 2005 and ISO 9001: 2008 (QMS) certified, for Quality Management Systems in production and installation. Additionally, MDI is compliant with HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) that is an internationally recognized tool for the identification, recognition and avoidance of potential food hazards.
