This company took our money for a shipment of charcoal. They then sent a fake bill of lading. They then tried to obtain more money when I asked for further orders. After some tales I decided that this was fraud. I can't send all the documents because this from won't take emails or scanned documents.

Supplier contacted me selling gemstone products (e.g. labradorite) -- see initial contact email at the end of this message. Supplier sent photos of products -- but each photo was different from the other. We negotiated an intial deal -- $300 for 450 grams of gem material. This was a sample order so that I can view material and build trust in his business. However, after reviewing the supplier's profile and seeing that he had no information regarding selling or ever having sold gemstones, I became suspicious of his intentions. I lowered the initial sample purchase price from $300 to $120 and asked if it would be O.K. to do so in order to build confidence in his business since it was my first order and his profile only shows oils and nuts, not gemstones. The email communcations continue as follows: ME ------------ Hello, I looked through your Tradekey profile and did some research. Before committing to this, I want to make sure you are a legitimate gemstone dealer. Your Tradekey profile listed various oils and items unrelated to gemstones or labradorite. Let's make the first sample order smaller. I will send $120 (~180 grams). Please calculate the price for me and the amount of material you can send. Again, this is just the sample order for me to build confidence in your business and also to judge the quality of the material. I will be sending the money via Western Union if you are O.K. with the change. Let me know. SUPPLIER ------------------ got your mails and the content understood. if you do not feel confortable to proceed we can call the whole deal off. i do not like to deal with cleints who change from our initial agreement ME --------------------- That's unfortunate that you do not deal with clients who change agreements. Thank you for your time. *************** In my experience, working via email and being in contact with international businesses always runs the risk of possibly meeting fraudulent people who want to scam you. I've lost thousands when I first started learning about importing. Some warning signs would be the following: - Business contact does not want to offer a small sample order - Supplier offers material not advertised - Communication with supplier becomes more negative when references are requested, or when slight changes are made. - Supplier does want to provide proof that they are a legit business. -----------------Original contact email -------------- You have received a quotation from Timcomltd, in response to your buy offer (Rainbow Labradorite (Rainbow Moonstone)) posted on TradeKey.com From: Timcomltd (TrustPoints: 20) (This company is a Silverkey member of TradeKey.com) Subject: Rainbow Labradorite (Rainbow Moonstone) Country: South Africa Message Origin: South Africa * Date: 6/17/2010 01:06:28 Message: i can supply you with the above mention product rainbow moonstone / labradorite from south Africa. if still sourcing get back to me via [email protected] for details Attachments: none Address: #48 Rivonia Road, Sandton, South Africa Zip/Postal: 2146 Telephone: 27-719-405357 Fax: 27-866-235895 Email: [email protected]

Contact Name: David/ Precious Dladla Contact Numbers: +27110234165 +27734326005, +27842815693, +27728114699 We first contacted this company on the 7th of December as we were looking for Pure Sunflower Oil. They gave us a price of USD840/mt which they later revised down to USD800/MT on the condition taht we paid 50% upfront. On the 18th of January 2010 we made a deposit of USD12000 which was half of the total amount for 30mt of Pure Sunflower Oil. Mr. David confirmed receipt of payment on the 23rd and advised that the oil was being loaded. He further confirmed departure of the truck on the Saturday and we were expecting the truck to be at least at the Zimbabwean boader on the Monday, 25th of January. On Tuesday, the 26th David advised that the truck had been hijacked in Polokwane and they had made off with the trailer which was carrying the oil.He however advised us not to worry as a new consignment would be loaded on the Friday and leave RSA on Monday, the 1st of Feb. That was the last we heard of them. Their phones are switched and no responses to emails have been received.
