Company Information
JSC Biohumusas was founded in 2010. The company operates a 2 story building and 750 ares of land in the beautiful village surroundings of AlÅ¡ininkai, the municipality of Prienai, where remarkably rich, all-natural plant growth promoting soil amendment – biohumus or worm castings (also commonly referred to as “vermicompost†and “vermicastâ€) is produced by sleepless workers – earthworms. Eisenia fetida, known under various common names such as redworm, brandling worm, tiger worm and red wiggler worm, red californian earth worm, is a species of earthworm adapted to decaying organic material. Materials that are being processed: vegetable, fruit waste and cow manure. The company is growing every month, as worm population is doubling every 3 months. In April 2012 JSC Biohumusas has finished to set up a completely new soil mix factory and now offers organic substrates from all natural ingredients: high-marshy Lithuanian peat, premium compost and warm castings. Production is offered packed to plastic bags: 5, 10, 20, 50, 80 l or big bags.
Our point of view
Organic gardening is popular today, and for good reason: It works wonderfully! Organic gardeners shun the use of synthetic chemicals to keep their yards free from potential hazards. But the real success of organic gardens lies in the methods used to keep plants growing vigorously, without a heavy reliance on sprays. Organic gardening cuts right to the heart of the matter: soil.
Soil is the life force of the garden. When enriched with organic matter, the soil becomes moist, fertile, and airy – ideal for healthy plants. It also nourishes a rich population of beneficial organisms such as earthworms and nutrient-releasing bacteria. And it harbors root-extending fungi that help make growing conditions optimal.
